Pg. 141-155

Alex has just escaped the military and found his friends. Its is now Alex, Zee, Simon, Lucy, and the other black suit. The black suit is driving the hummer they are all in and Alex is navigating. Something is telling Alex where to go and he doesn't know where it is coming from. He thinks it is Furnace talking to him through the nectar. The Berserkers are killing every rat that tries to attack the truck as they travel the road looking for a place to stay. When they finally arrive Alex realizes he has led the hummer directly to his old house back when he was a regular kid. Before he was made the monster he is now. They all eventually walk in and sit at the table and Lucy makes tea and they find a little food to eat.

Alex goes upstairs to his old room and sees: his room is cleaned, left the same, not messed with, the same posters still on the walls, drawers open as they were, but still clean. He sees the only picture he ever kept in his room and he looks closer at it. His family on a cruise, ice cream on dad's face, laughing, mom close by, little eleven year old Alex right between them. He begins to cry and gets an, ''awful pressure in my throat, like something huge was crawling up it." I like this quote because anyone who has ever cried can relate the "awful pressure" in their throat.

The good parts about this chapter is it is showing how Alex felt about this life before Furnace. The bad part is it is actually kind of sad and there has not been a sad part in the series yet, mostly just killling, anger, and regret.

My prediction is that Alex will find Alfred Furnace, but killing him like he wants to I'm not sure about that one.

  1. Good post with great detail. The font looks cool and fits the background well but it is hard to read.
